Welcome to The Outer Rim Initiative!

Hello newcomer! I want to welcome you to our small but dedicated RP community here in SWTOR. It doesn’t matter if this is your first RP experience or if you are a veteran – we are happy that you took some time to check us out! It is our sincere hope that you enjoy your path, whether you are a soldier, Jedi, or both! We know that the systems we have in place are a bit complicated and daunting, but we’ll do our best to help you understand all of the guild’s ins and outs. Here is a start as to where to look and hopefully make some sense of these forums!

We look forward to meeting your character and seeing their story unfold!

      Code of Conduct

This guild exists as a safe space for people to escape the world and tell a fun, compelling story of a character they create. In order to maintain this safe space, some rules are in place to maintain the integrity of our purpose. I know you want to get started on this new adventure, so I’ll keep it brief to the main points. The full Code of Conduct exists here for OOC and here for IC; please read them as there are important points to go over. The main rule is to be respectful towards everyone on an OOC basis. Of course, you won’t be friends with everyone; we’re not asking that of you. All we ask is that you please maintain a cordial attitude to other members in your time here. If mediation is ever needed on an issue, any officer would be more than happy to facilitate that conversation. Never hesitate to reach out to any of us for any problems regarding that front. The other important rule is always to maintain proper IC/OOC separation. IC refers to in-character actions, which will have in-character consequences. OOC refers to the out-of-character aspect, ie, the players themselves.

Similarly, out-of-character actions will have out-of-character consequences. It is crucial to keep these separated to maintain the goal of this guild properly. If you have any concerns on what may or may not be a breach of the IC/OOC split, please feel free to message any junior officer or officer.

      Age Policy

The Anaxes Initiative, as an information content provider, cannot be held accountable for the actions of its members but is committed to removing material deemed inappropriate by the average person in applying contemporary community standards concerning minors. In other words, we do not condone the depiction, description, or representation of materials that are patently offensive and sexually explicit within our public spaces. Upon discovery of this content, the leadership body will reasonably act to remove it. Internet law defines a minor as any person under 17 years of age (47 U.S. Code § 231 (e)(7), located here), but we require our members to be 18 years of age or older.

We will take your application listed age at face value, but if you are under the required age, you will be removed from the guild. Members are expected to curate their experiences, ensuring they do not engage in unwanted, unsolicited, or illegal behaviors with other members. Attempts to ostracize players who do not wish to engage with you, be involved in romantic or erotic role-play, or as retaliatory behavior will be considered harassment and subject to removal from the community.

      Jedi Enclave

Our guild has two main avenues of RP: the Jedi Enclave on Anaxes and the Republic 7th Battalion. You can write a Jedi character, write a trooper, or even do both! I’ll briefly outline how to get started in the Jedi Enclave with a Jedi character. Your first order of business is to make a noetikon and progression sheet! The noetikon will have character details in addition to a small backstory. It can be as summarized or as in-depth as you want, as you can always add more to it later. The progression sheet will allow you to track the abilities you learn and manage the progression points. Once you have created both of these, you will need to pass the Padawan Trials.

While, in theory, it sounds like a lot, the Padawan Trials is a mere short RP that a Jedi Overseer or Council Member oversees. It’ll give you a chance to understand some core abilities and ask clarifying questions before you become a Padawan. You will need to have four abilities: Empty Meditation, Jedi Code, Three Pillars, and Shii-Cho beginner to take the Trial. If you cannot make it to one of the classes, please message any of the Junior Officers or Officers of the Anaxes Enclave. We’re always happy to set up private sessions for those who have scheduling conflicts! Click here to learn more about the Padawan Trials.

Once these steps are complete, you should focus on finding a Jedi Knight character or higher to train you! The Padawanships are entirely in character, and your IC master tailors the journey. You are welcome to post a profile here to outline what you are looking for in a master.

Similarly, you can visit here to view master profiles. We encourage all of our new members to take their time in picking a master to ensure the match is what both people are looking for. There are several different lanes your character can participate in to tailor that development. It would be a lot to outline here, so feel free to visit here to see all of the avenues within the Jedi Enclave that you can explore.

      7th Army Battalion

The Republic Military in the Old Republic is certainly a fantastic RP option! The 7th Army Battalion is attached to the newly founded Jedi Enclave to quell threats in the Outer Rim and Wild Space territories. Similar to the Jedi Enclave, your first order of business is to set up a Soldier Profile. This is a place to put character details, backstory and track any stories you wish for your character as they go down their journey. Once these steps are completed, your character will go through MEPS In Character as introduction RP. This can be administered by any NCO (sergeant or higher) or officer! Don’t hesitate to reach out to any of these folks over discord to get it scheduled; they’re there to help! Now that all of these steps are completed, your character may begin their journey in the 7th Army Battalion. There are many avenues to explore, so feel free to look here to see the potential paths! Feel free to reach out to Thaddeus Steele or Chet Stone for any questions regarding the 7th on discord!

      Policy on IC Relationships

Jedi relationships happened quite a lot in lore even if the Council frowned upon them. This is true of our Jedi Enclave as well – Jedi relationships are frowned upon In Character by the Council. However, Out of Character none of us care at all! If you want to explore a romantic portion of your character’s story, you are more than welcome to. This means that if we are aware of the IC relationship on an OOC level, the Council will do nothing about it. You are free to flaunt any art, character moments, or anything else like that on an OOC basis. The only time IC ramifications will occur is if the Council finds out in an IC capacity. If you are interested in pursuing this facet of RP, you MUST read this post. There are critical rules attached to this part of RP, so please give that a thorough read.
